Constant trying, covering the bricks and mortar of who you are and what you know to be true are at best a weak and shaky facade.
With time motives and intents are revealed for what they are, a covering for our perceived inadequacies or wrong desires, a denial of the truth of who we really are and God's own purpose and plane for us. Concreting over what God has planned and ordained will not stand the test of time nor does it weather beautifully, but it breaks down, develops cracks and eventually crumbles before our very eyes.
There is no shame in these bricks, and it is the mortar of repentance and faith that is building up this "building of God" that His presence may Tabernacle here.
2Co 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
